KOPS RECOGNITION
From the Tops News January 1963-THE HISTORY OF KOPS
KOPS, as the honor society of TOPS, was first established in 1954. By this time many TOPS had taken off pounds sensibly and reached their weight goal.
KOPS was established to encourage these members to stay in Tops and keep off pounds sensibly (and satisfactorily).
The first graduating class of KOPS was held at the TOPS Annual Convention held in Chicago in 1955. Official registration of KOPS started in 1957.
Kops registration card #1 was issued to Bertha Retzlaff of Milwaukee, WI who lost 110 pounds in 1951 to reach her goal.

SanbernadinoKOPS     SanbernardinoKOPSPICTURES ON THE LEFT: One of the highlights of the December meeting of KOPS Honor Society of San Bernardino was donating gifts to the seniors at Desert Knolls Convalescent Hospital in Victorville, California. The representative at the hospital said that many residents have no family, so they were very appreciative of our gifts. says Kops Korrespondent Cheryl Goodsell.

The gifts were delivered the week before Christmas by Society members. Pictured are Linda Brocker, photographer; Melanie Orduno, Desert Knolls assistant activity director: Area Captain Peg Hardy, Kaptain; Pat Orozco, member and Cheryl Goodsell, Korrespondent.

The Golden Hearts Kops Society in Spokane celebrated Christmas in February with a luncheon at the home of
Coordinator Barbara Groves.
The luncheon was originally scheduled in December but had to be postponed because of bad weather.
This group of friends decided they enjoyed celebrating the holidays together so continued the tradition in Feb.
Following the luncheon, a regular meeting was held and election of officers too place for 2011.

Please join us. Our meetings are fantastic. Call your area captain for more information.

KOPS Society of San Bernardino County, California members. We decided

instead of exchanging gifts at our December meeting as usual,

we would each bring a gift to donate to Desert Knoll's Convalesent Hospital.

There are many patients at this hospital that have no family, so they

were very happy to receive the over 40 gifts our 24 members donated.
