THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK

  • Sometimes we are limited more by attitude than by opportunities.

  • It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.

  • Take charge of your attitude; don't let someone else choose it for you.

  • No action, no change. Limited action, limited changes. Lots of action, change occurs.

  • Greatness comes with recognizing that your potential is limited only by how you choose, how you use your freedom, how resolute you are, how persistent you are, in short, by your attitude. –Peter Koestenbaum

  • Seems there was a dog named Fido who heard about a certain building which held 1,000 mirrors. Not knowing what a mirror was, Fido was very excited to go see this place as he was intrigued by the thought of 1,000 mirrors. He went the next day and entered the building. Because he was so happy to be there and so excited about seeing the mirrors, when he entered the room, all he saw was 1,000 smiling, beaming, happy dogs looking back at him. He was thrilled. He could hardly wait to tell his friend, Bruno. Bruno seemed grumpy all the time and Fido knew this would be something that would cheer him up. Old Bruno, grumpy as usual, didn't want to go, but finally gave in. He visited the building with 1,000 mirrors and stepped inside. He left unimpressed and a little angry. When Fido saw him coming he excitedly ask, “So, what did you think??” Bruno said, “I wasted my time going there...all I saw was a bunch of ugly, grumpy looking dogs looking back at me. I could hardly wait to get out of there!!” So, you see, the moral of the story is, LIFE may be good or bad...it all depends on how you look at things. Life is what you make it...Make it great!! (thank you, Alice, for sharing this story)

  • Sometimes simple, everyday things can loom so large that you feel caught up in a maze with no exit. In times like these remember: God is Able

  • The only person who can keep us from becoming thin is ourselves. We cannot become thin just by planning on it...or just by believing what we have learned or by what we know. We can become thin by putting our knowledge into action.

  • Satisfaction is the results of one's own character.

  • Set small goals. Then, when you reach that one, set another one. Change only one behavior at a time. Start drinking water. Once you start drinking 8 glasses a day, choose another habit to change. Smaller changes add up. Losing one pound a month means 12 pounds at the end of the year. -Tops News

  • From the Tops News...Walking at a brisk pace gives the impression that you know where you are going so sales people are not apt to stop you.

  • If you indulge in an eating lapse, don't try to make up for it by starving yourself afterward. That only sets up a binge-and-starve pattern. Remember, you're in this for the long haul, so gently steer yourself back to sensible habits and don't overreact over one mistake The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing that you will make one.

  • Happiness is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.

  • Take the time to be grateful for all the things around you, both large and small, and the beauty of life will be yours.

  • Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere.

  • Somebody said that it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, “That “maybe it couldn't” but he would be one, who wouldn't say so 'til he tried.

  • Good habits are the soul's muscles. The more you use them, the stronger they grow.

  • Hold fast your dreams within your heart, whatever might befall. Let others laugh, if laugh they will, but keep your dream through all. Tis happiness you cherish there, within that treasured thought, And all the joy a life can bring, that precious dream has brought. Hold fast your faith and keep it still, don't falter on the way, Because another might have failed, still seek the rightful way. Although it seems a foolish dream, within a why or where. Because it was born within your heart, do hold and keep it there. Hold fast your hope in bigger things, and bright days ahead, As long as you have faith and trust, a dream cannot be dead. Hold fast that lobe and wondrous smile, however small they seem, For life will mean so much more, if you hold on to your dream. -From the Tops News
